This is the KPI that turns quality improvement into an investment case. If improving alignment by 0.01 costs $12,000 in engineering time and generates $45,000 in retained revenue, the ROI is 3.75x. Any CFO approves 3.75x returns.
How to calculate it: Track total investment (engineering hours, infrastructure costs, data costs) for each quality improvement initiative. Measure the alignment score change. Divide cost by score improvement. Compare to the revenue impact per score point.
KPI 3: Quality-Adjusted LTV
The technical metric: Fit score multiplied by lifetime value.
The financial translation: How does AI quality affect the total revenue from each customer?
Standard LTV tells you how much revenue a customer generates over their lifetime. Quality-adjusted LTV tells you how much AI quality contributed. Users who experience high-quality AI (high alignment scores) have higher LTV, they retain longer, expand more, and refer others.
How to calculate it: For each customer, multiply their LTV by their average alignment score. Compare quality-adjusted LTV across cohorts. The premium tells you what AI quality is worth per customer.

Building the data pipeline takes investment. Connecting alignment scores to financial data requires integration work. You need to link quality metrics to revenue systems. Budget for this integration as a prerequisite.
The numbers will shift. As you improve quality, the relationship between quality and retention will change. Early improvements have the biggest retention impact. Later improvements show diminishing returns on retention but increasing returns on expansion.
Not all quality improvements have financial impact. Some improvements affect quality scores without changing user behavior. Track financial impact independently, do not assume every quality point converts to revenue.
